Over 30 years ago Allan Vernon moved from Manchester to New York and realized there was a "lack of jerk." He had a vision, and operated two popular Jerk Paradise restaurants in the United States. The New York Times dubbed him the "King of Jerk". Now West is taking on East with the "King of Jerk" introducing his fiery scotch bonnet pepper to the "Curry Mile."

The Curry Mile has hundreds of Indian Restaurants side by side. The intrusion of this Caribbean eatery is a welcome variation to many who frequent the area.

This expansive Jamaican Restaurant pulsates with the rhythm and energy of the World Famous Curry Mile. This two-story building offers spectacular seating for 198 guests on two levels. At Vernon's you'll fin an imposing place, of high ceilings, a fully stocked bar, striking wall decorations, and wine cellar that offers the diner many selections from a wide and varied stock.

Jerk is a style of cooking which was discovered centuries ago in Jamaica. The original Arawak Indians and the maroons used it as a way of preserving meats. In 1982, Allan Vernon introduced this exotic, authentic Jamaican Jerk Cuisine to the United States. Now we are happy to say that 'Mr.V' as we call Mr. Allan Vernon has opened a first class restaurant in Rusholme, Manchester, UK with the financial backing of his son Pete.

Ackee & Salt Fish, Oxtail, Curried Goat, Escovitch Fish, and Jerk Chicken are some of the main dishes offered with side orders of traditional mouth watering rice and peas, fresh salads and plantains. Vernon's has a lot of themed nights including Monday and Tuesday nights with a Student Buffet, Wednesday features Jazz Musicians who help set the mood, Tuesdays & Thursday the sprightly over 60 crowd are offered a discounted lunch, and Sunday's families receive 25% off their meal.

Vernon's has successfully conjured a line of Jerk cooking sauces and has catered for stars featured on the Wall of Fame.
