Caribbean Treehouse Restaurant

When you're passing through the Los Angeles area, or if you live there, then there is one place that you should visit if you are looking for great Caribbean food with a Trinidadian flavour, and that's the Caribbean Treehouse Restaurant. Created over six years ago by Carol Charles, the Caribbean Treehouse or the "Treehouse", as it is more widely know, has made a small name for it self. Its success can be attributed to Carol's flavourful hand in the kitchen, and the management skills of her friend and associate Ted Holder.

Carol Charles first migrated to Los Angles, in 1975 with her husband Rudolph Charles. Rudolph Charles, at that time was the leader of the well known Trinidad and Tobago musical band "Desperadoes of Steel Orchestra", and he and his wife made the transition to L.A. as they both had a both grown attached to the city from their first visit some years before.

However Carol's new direction into the culinary service did not arise until the sudden death of her husband in 1985. However, the Caribbean Treehouse was not born out that tragedy but rather out of Carols love for creating food, this she had discovered when she started operating a weekend food service from her home, shortly after her husband's passing. It was the enormous and enthusiastic response from her cooking that convinced Carol Charles to start her own business.

The then retired System engineer Ted Holder took on the job to manage the Caribbean Treehouse Restaurant at the request of Carol a job he found quite different than what he was used to. He says that running a restaurant is a very demanding and tiring, but sees the worth in what he does. Holder admits that for him the best part of his job is meeting and interacting with the patrons of the restaurant, and sees that restaurants success was formed from good food, good people and a health environment. The Caribbean Treehouse recently received a 'A' rating from the Los Angles food inspectors, and for Ted that is solid proof of the Treehouse's reputation for quality.

So whether you are a Trinidadian, West Indian, or just a lover of fine Caribbean cuisine a visit to the Caribbean Treehouse is in order.
