My Caribbean Poem
White sandy beaches and warm tropical seas
Palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze

Mum and dad dancing to the sweet reggae beat
Laughing children paying happily in the street

People sweltering under the hot, glaring sun
Cool yourselves down with a coke-and white rum

Flying fish jumping out of the spray
Rasta blowing conch shells in the sea, near the bay

Mouth watering mango, jelly coconuts and honey
Cent and dollar is the Caribbean money

Warm showers of heavy rain
Ackee and saltfish with plantain

Mountains and flowers, birds and trees
Perfectly surrounded by the Caribbean seas

Clear skies, and a beautiful view
I love the Caribbean and so will you

Caribbean Poem

A place that’s relaxing, exciting and fun
With warm grainy sand and hot radiant sun
The Warm breeze flows and brushes my feet
And the mangoes taste like sugar cane so exotic and sweet

The sandy beach goes on for ages and ages and
It make me happy as I write on these pages
To hear the waves of the blue sea crash so wild
But the water tickles my toes and make me smile

My mouth waters and my stomach aches
For Ackee and Saltfish, Hard-dough bread and Sugar Cakes
My eyes are filled with the wonder of this place
So full of beauty and so much space

The big palm trees stretch and sway and sway
Filled with coconuts and pineapples I could eat all day
I wish I could climb them all the way up to Heaven
But I’m having Flying Fish and Sweetbread for dinner at Seven

As the sun begins to disappear behind the horizon
The sky fills up with colours of celebration
Red, Purple, orange and yellow
Make me fell happy, relaxed and mellow

Across the waters flows the music of the land
Soca, Reggae and Calypso move my feet in the sand
There’s no place so beautiful, and so perfect then
Heaven on Earth, found in the Caribbean

Imagine

Imagine..sitting on a sandy white beach
A waiter arrives “fresh coconut water, one each?”

Imagine…the sea dazzling green
Schools of flying fish, coral heads and turtles in between

Imagine…barbecue on the sea shore
Spicy chicken, ackee grilled prawns, crabs lobster, sweet bread and so much more

Imagine…being so hot, wearing a bikini and crop top
Swimming endlessly with fish and friends, deep sea diving and avoiding the “bends”

Imagine..a wonderfully colourful festival
Dancing, calypso, smile and shouts no worries at all

Imagine..climbing a palm tree watching the sun go down
Sipping some ginger beer before taking an old taxi to town

Imagine…strangers quickly becoming friends
Rounders and cricket, sand castles and sea walls, not wanting it  all to end

Imagine…having to say goodbye to all of this, the reggae on the plane
Bringing a tear to my eye
