Distilleries making Scotch whisky, Gin, Cognac, Irish whiskey even Vodkas are easily reached by train or by car. Not so with the only true global spirit, Rum.
The UK RUM FEST guarantees to make it easy to walk to Nepal for a taste of Khukri Rum then to Jamaica for a taste of one the Caribbean's biggest exports Appleton Rum. You can sample the worlds 2nd biggest selling rum, Tanduay from the Philippines or sip a 23 year old modern classic from Guatemala, called Ron Zacapa. Learn why Rhums from Martinique & Guadeloupe have won numerous spirit awards and why Rhum from Haiti is compared to some of the finest cognacs in the world. Find out how Bacardi became one of the biggest selling brands of all time and why Bundaberg rum in Australia is so popular that you can buy it on draught with coke!

The 1st UK Rum Fest brings together some of worlds most known, and not so known, rum brands. For the first two evenings you can use an exclusive Rum Passport to become a "Rum Runner" through some of London's top bars & restaurant. Your passport will enable you to try exclusive rum cocktails and a chance to win a trip to the Caribbean. During the next two days, in London's most fabulous Rum Bar, Artesian @ the world famous Langham hotel, some of the world's top rums will be judged by an all star expert Rum judging panel to award medals of merit to the top rums in their respected categories. And finally two action packed afternoons of sipping, nosing, tutoring, savouring and rum experiences on Saturday and Sunday July 21st & 22nd at the Rum Trade show & Exhibition @ The Royal Horticultural Halls, Victoria, London SW1. Here is where you'll get to meet the Master Blenders, Distillers, Rum companies, Cocktail mixologists and Rum aficionado's from all over the rum world. Our Rum Village will house some of the worlds leading rum brands for you to taste & savour.

There will be top Chefs demonstrating rum & cuisine and you be able to try the orgasmic delicacy of Rum & Chocolate. Live entertainment will be provided on our main stage throughout the two days to create the total RUM EXPERIENCE. And finally The Rum Ball & Dinner will be a celebrity affair that will take place on the evening of July 21st at The Royal Horticultural Halls, to present the medals to all the winners concurrently being judged in the UK Rum Challenge Tasting Competition, hosted by UK Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell.

There is also the award for the winners of the Rum signature cocktail competition where the winning bartender will receive a fabulous trip to one of the Caribbean Rum distilleries, and the draw to find the winner for the fabulous trip to one of the Holiday Resorts in the Caribbean exclusively for participants of the Rum Run.

So Why Rum?

Cane Spirits (Rum, Rhum, Ron & Cachaca) are in the news more and more, a reflection, perhaps, of our changing tastes and likely due to the growing sophistication of offerings from this most adaptable and versatile of spirits. There are unaged whites, similar to vodka, although a good many white rums are aged prior to bottling and have remarkably delicious flavour. There are premiums and super premiums that rival any of the world's foremost aged whiskies and cognacs-and sip well with a good cigar. Flavours, crèmes, liqueurs and spiced presentations abound. And, Cachaca, Brazil's cane spirit and the 3rd largest category of spirit consumed in the world, now has its own Trade Council.

Few other distilled spirits have impacted complete societies as much as rum. There are a few drinking-age people alive today who have not heard about classic rum cocktails such as the Daiquiri, Mai Tai, Piña Colada and the Mojito. It is perhaps due to the popularity of these tropical cocktails that rum is often linked to pirates, trading ships, treasure islands and heavenly paradises.

In most rum-producing countries, rum is more than just a beverage that is created for local and/or foreign consumption. It is somewhat of a national symbol, a religion a way of life and as such, has connotations of pride and local identity. Every country that produces rum claims theirs better than anyone else's…and they are all right! Each distillery skillfully caters to the palate of their local consumers, matching all their expectations.

So be a part of the 1st UK Rum Festival in October and find out why the best drink in the world…is the rum that's in your glass.

Tickets for the festival will be on sale from the web site shortly. Must be 18 years or older to attend event.
