Mama don't do it, please,
Don cook dat chicken fe dinner,
We know dat chicken from she hatch,
She is de only ne in de batch
Dat de mongoose didn't catch,
Please don't cook her fe dinner.

Mama, don't do it, please,
Don' cook dat chicken fe dinner,
Yuh mean to tell mi yuh feget
Yuh promise her to we as a pet
She not even have a chance to lay yet
An uyh want to cook her fe dinner.

Mama, don't do it please,
Don' cook dat chicken fe dinner,
Don't give Henrietta de chop,
Ah tell yuh what, we could swop,
We will get yuh one from de shop,
If yuh promise not to cook her fe dinner.

Mama, me really glad, uyh know,

Mammie's Coo-coo and Callaloo

Every Sunday
Mammie cook coo-coo and callaloo

Sometimes, there's
peas and rice and salt-beef stew;

I don't know what I would do
without Mammie's coo-coo and callaloo.

Sometimes there's
chicken with pumpkin and dasheen too;
I don't know what I would do
without Mammie's coo-coo and callaloo.

Sometimes there's
pelau, and on the side spice manicou;

I don't know what I would do
without Mammie's coo-coo and callaloo.

Sometime's there's
poun plantain with curried cascadoo;

I don't know what I would do
without Mammie's coo-coo and callaloo.

Mmmmm, mmmmm I would like some now.
Would you like some too
of Mammie's coo-coo and callaloo?

Yeeeeeessssss!!!

I don't know what I would do
without Mammie's coo-coo and callaloo.
