Mushrooming Entrepreneurs

An enterprising couple in Jamaica are heading towards millionaire status simply by selling mushrooms.

It's been four years since Carl and Juliet Duncan took the unusual step and started cultivating mushrooms, a vegetable marvelled at by many Jamaicans a while back.

Some  continue to ask why would anyone want to eat these strange looking bits of fungi?   It would seem that these young entrepreuners - who now produce 150 1bs  of mushroom per week, have demistyfied the eating of them.

"We are now working to expand our production line", said Juliet.  "We're looking a mid-November for Portobello and early next year for new lines."

And are Jamaicans now eating more mushrooms?

Indeed they are, for Duncan mushrooms are in a lot more hotels, and calls are fast and furious if supermarket shelves become empty.
