Taste of the Caribbean at IFE 2003
 
For the first time there will be a large scale Caribbean Food and Drink Presence at the Trade Event IFE.

 

At the International Food Exhibition (IFE) 2003 to be held in the Excel Exhibition Centre - Docklands, over 100 square metres of space will be taken up by suppliers advertising Caribbean Food and Drink.
This initiative is being sponsored by the Knowledge Centre on Black and Minority Ethnic Businesses, a unit within Business Link For London, and supported by the EQUAL programme, a European programme dedicated to improving opportunities for employment and self-employment for ethnic minorities.    Caribbean Food Emporium is the coordinator of this initiative.   
 
This is a large-scale exhibition, featuring food and drink from all over the world.   There will be major representations from all over the world, including: the Italian Food Industry, the Spanish Food Industry, the Indian Food Industry, The Chinese Food Industry, The British Food Industry.   
The presence of London Taste of the Caribbean  at IFE  will help to improve the awareness and profile of the Caribbean Food and Drink  Industry as a whole.   Brief details of the  companies exhibiting under the banner Taste of the Caribbean follows below.    Contact Information is also included.

Garfield Davidson’s love of Caribbean Food was rewarded when he won a competition to prepare a packaged meal for Sainsbury’s in the year 2000,  in order to raise money for charity.    His catering and manufacturing company, Ting N Ting,  prepares a number of products. He also now travels around spreading the news about Caribbean Food with talks, displays and demonstration and is pleased to be able to demonstrate at IFE 2003.
 
Ting N Ting’s  new product – the organic jerk sauce made from the finest fresh ingredients will be available to view, sample and order from the stand.   Visitors will also have the opportunity to view videos of the  following:

  • Winning competition with Gaby Roslin – Whatever you want
  • Visit with Sainsbury’s to  Noone factory in Middlesex, to supervise production of packaged Lamb Curry and Rice and Peas.
 
Garfield is presently organising a Jerk festival to run along side a Jazz festival which will be held at  Merton Abbey Mills market, South Wimbledon.  The festivals will run  for 8 weeks in July and August, 2003, on     Friday evenings 3pm – 10pm.   There is a Bandstand where live jazz will be played.   A Jerk competition will be held towards the end of the festival. 
 
In the innovation zone at IFE, Garfield will demonstrate:
  • Stir fried  pumpkin and coconut with bean shoots,
  • Ackee and Saltfish Vol au Vents
  • Lamb curry
He will also talk about the flexibility of saltfish, the  importance of marinating meat, and the benefits of organic food.
