Busha
Brown –manufacturers
sauces and seasonings. Winston
Stona of Busha Brown spoke highly of his product.
He started in 1988. His
products are distributed by Bespoke Foods.
Busha Brown products are being sold in Sainsbury’s Waitrose, Asda,
Morrisons and Fortnum and Mason.
He says that particularly in America, the cuisine is growing very
fast. There are 8 million
Americans who travel to the Caribbean on holiday annually, however when they
come back, there is no where to eat the food,
since there are not enough Caribbean Restaurants.
The
New York Times Magazine recently did an article on Busha Brown Jerk
Seasoning which was included in the soldiers rations in Iraq.
Island
Patties – Wade Lynn,
Pattie Manufacturer since 1988,
has been successful in
getting his products into supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys, as well as many smaller stores.
The breakthrough came from 1996.
During 2000 – 2001, the Company added Somerfield and Safeway to its
ever increasing customer base. There
is a range of 8 different pattie fillings, and patties are individually
wrapped. Phillips
Foods Mark
Davis, proprietor of Phillips Foods showed the packaging for their new
products which we hope will find a market fairly soon.
The products can be sold chilled or
frozen. They are
prepared ready meals: eg.
A
presentation pack has been prepared for supermarkets.
The company is based in Shropshire.
Kingston
Miami, Patrick
Cha Fong, president of Kingston Miami based in Florida, had traveled over specially for IFE,
with a selection of his team.
They manufacture products under 12 trademarks,
including the Lion of Judah, and pikka pepper. He said his company was bigger than Grace, and has been
going for 20 years. He
does have a wide range of products ranging from coconut water, to sauces and
various tins. Sisserou A young lady from Norwich had started manufacturing a high quality packaged alcoholic drink of rum, coconut and cream. The product is comparable to Baileys. There are a number of niche buyers, and it is also being exported to Switzerland. Buccaneer
Jamaica Rum Cakes The
Export manager of Buccaneer, Jamaica was
present at IFE, promoting rum sponge cakes,
and rum fruit cakes. The samples went down very well. They also do buns and other snack cakes. Caribbean
Herbs - Lawrence Phillips,
(an English man) is promoting
Caribbean herbs via a website www.caribbeanherbs.net. He
is exhibiting at the Natural Products Europe – under the banner Treasures
of the Caribbean, there are 10 companies coming over from the Caribbean to
exhibit, for which he has managed to secure sponsorship. Grace,
Kennedy, UK Grace will shortly be going into mail order which will be useful for people who do not live within the range of a shop that stocks their products. They will package a range of Grace brand products, and send to any destination within the UK, for a cost of £6. Next day delivery is possible. Mr
Jerk Mr
Jerk has new premises in Central London, to open in a few weeks time. Ripefield
Food Products Ripefield
are Manufacturers
of Exotic Fruit juices and natural juices and
Suppliers of Caribbean Rum and Fruit Cakes, Caribbean Sauces,
Guavaberry and Papaya BBQ sauces.
This business is based
in Birmingham. Yabba Yabba
is a manufacturer who makes products such as Chutneys, marinades, dressings,
seasonings, jams, sauces & pickles with traditional authentic Caribbean ingredients from recipes
passed down through generations.
They are based in South Yorkshire.
