Black History Month - Celebration

A new beginning….             

11.30am -1.00pm, Gloucester Room, Central Library

What were the expectations of afro-Caribbean people and why did they want to move to England? Come and find out from our speakers, look at slides of their new and old homes and share your own memories.

 

Heritage Chefs!             

1.00-2.30pm, York Room, Central Library

Come and find out about Caribbean food traditions and the flavours of the different islands. You’ll make your own 3-course lunch and try some Caribbean delights including rotis, patties coconuts and sorrel juice! 

 

Pack your grip!          

2.30-4pm, 1st floor gallery, Central Library

Confused? You’d have packed a grip (suitcase) when you moved to Britain – come along and have a go! Find out about the clothes and belongings children would have brought with them in the 50s and 60s, make your own postcards and try on some funky clothes!

All events are suitable for adults, children

and families. NOTE: A new beginning may not be appropriate for under 5s
