Ginger Beer

Ingredients  
250g fresh root ginger
4 litres water
Sugar to taste
cloves
1 tsp.  lime or lemon juice (optional)
Preparation Method
  1. Grate the ginger
  2. Add to water with the cloves and juice and stir well.   
  3. Allow to steep for a short period.
  4. For longevity, you can boil this mixture for 30 minutes, then allow to cool.   The ginger beer can then  be stored for a longer period of time.
  5. Strain and discard the bits.
  6. Sweeten the ginger beer to taste.
  7. Serve cold.   (It can be taken hot as ginger tea)
