BACKGROUND OF THE
BUSINESSES Mr.
Anselm Benjamin, an accountant by profession and very experienced in tea
manufacturing in England and Kenya started
the manufacturing of traditional and herbal teas under the name of
AUNT LINDA’S FINE FOODS from 1998 to harness the goodness of
these valuable herbs. Herbal medicine has always been a
tradition in the Caribbean. Herbalists have been treating illnesses and
diseases for centuries. However,
the necessary diagnostic skills for identification of the illness,
accurate dosage from of the herbs used and proper documentation and
labelling of the remedies have
been lacking. Eden Herbs
was created to fill that void. Dr. Gilbertha St. Rose, a qualified Medical
Herbalist (see attached curriculum
vitae) began production of therapeutic herbal medicine in 1996
Eden Herbs now
manufactures authenticated herbs with proper labelling and dosage
recommendations.
The manufacture of these mixtures was based on training in England
in the pharmaceutical preparations of these herbs and aided by the
scientific data from TRAMIL (Traditional medicines of the islands) project
which is ongoing in the Caribbean region.
The
product range now includes herbal mixtures to treat various ailments such
as Gas, Constipation, Cough, Cold and Sinus problems, cleansers etc ; also
creams for acne, excema, rheumatism, circulation, liver spots. These are .
available over the counter. Sweet
Aloe juice and pleasant tasting Noni
Juice are also available This enterprise is unique in St.
Lucia and even for the Caribbean. In 2002 EDEN HERBS and AUNT LINDA’S FINE FOODS engaged towards total marriage and now has HOUSE OF EDEN CORPORATION undertaking the procurement and manufacturing of these fine herbal products.
