Caribbean Scene and the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon 2007

If you wanted to be within inches of The Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon at the weekend then Caribbean Scene was the place to be seen! Diners were able to cheer on and interact with the mainly super-fit male and female athletes over a pint of Red Stripe Jamaican beer and some exquisite cocktails.

The award-winning restaurant, which was featured in last weeks 'Timeout' as one of the 'capitals best restaurants and bars,' laid on a special BBQ for both onlookers and athletes. It seemed as if the summer had finally arrived in Docklands and Caribbean Scene recorded its best food and drink sales for the year.

Caribbean Scene which only celebrated its first anniversary a fortnight ago was full to capacity and it's 'theatre kitchen, led by ex-Ivy chef Anthony Cumberbatch,' was pushed to breaking point, however both kitchen and waiters coped remarkable well under the pressure.

Founder and Managing Director Patrick Marché said 'I have never seen anything like it but my staff were up for the challenge and they delivered well, with a Caribbean smile and regular winding of the waist as the Calypso and Soca music created that carnival atmosphere' He went on to say that 'I have a remarkable team of people working at Caribbean Scene and I have a great deal of respect for everyone of them, regardless of there position within the company'

Daren Bent who recently teamed up at Tottenham with Jermain Defoe (one of Caribbean Scene's regulars) joined in the carnival atmosphere which continued into the evening. Daren came with his Mum and other family members and he too has become one of Caribbean Scene's numerous celebrity regulars. 'Daren and Jermain are such gentlemen and great role models for young black teenagers. 'I am proud to have them as patrons of Caribbean Scene and hope they both do very well for Tottenham and England this season' says MD Patrick Marché

Also popping in at the weekend with the family to celebrate her Mum's birthday was Eastenders star Diane Parish (Denise Wicks) who said that it was her third visit to Caribbean Scene. Her first visit was when she came with a number of her cast member colleagues in April. She said that she loved the place and she will continue to spread the news about Caribbean Scene's great food, atmosphere and location.
