It's official - Caribbean Scene this week scooped its first award and was voted the 'Best Caribbean Restaurant in the UK' having opened just 4 months ago!

At the World Food Fair Exhibition at ExCeL London, founder and MD Patrick Marche commented: "It was beyond my wildest dreams for Caribbean Scene to have been nominated after just 4 months, but winning is like all my Christmases and birthdays have come at the same time!"

Described as "art on the plate" by one diner and compiled to reflect both the authentic and contemporary aspects of Caribbean cuisine.

Head Chef Anthony Matthew Cumberbatch has roots in Barbados where he began cooking at the age of five in his grandmother's farmhouse kitchen.

Anthony has since worked at top London establishments including The Ivy and Quaglinos and is a protegees of Anthony Worrel Thompson.

His passion is creating beautiful food and his trademark is creating height in his dishes. Anthony explains: "It must first be eaten with the eye before passing the lips".

Set in a "one in a million" location overlooking the marina at Royal Victoria Dock, the restaurant is designed around a colour theme of chocolate, raspberries, cognac and cream - truly a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

A selection of fine wines, rums and cocktails are available in the Hurricane Bar where at the weekend the live music adds an extra buzz to the Caribbean Scene dining experience.
