HAMMERSMITH
& FULHAM CARIBBEAN FOOD INITIATIVE
GROWTH THROUGH FRANCHISING
London
borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, has secured funding from the
London Development Agency to develop an initiative targeting Caribbean
food
businesses to explore the opportunities for business growth through
franchising.
The use of the franchise model of business is becoming an increasingly
recognised route for growing a business. Furthermore it has been a
contributory
factor to the development and growth of women and minority owned businesses
in the USA. Therefore an examination of this model of business growth
and
development for the UK Caribbean fast food sector would be an effective
means
of the Business Enterprise Centre to; (BEC)
a)
develop and increase local economic activity within the regeneration
of
neighbourhoods; and
b)
increase the economic activity of the UK BME (Black and Minority Ethnic)
community that is under-represented in the development of sustainable
growth
businesses.
The
Initiative
We are looking for a maximum of 12 businesses to participate in this
pilot. We
are seeking businesses who have been trading for a minimum of 12 months.
Selected businesses will be offered two days of consultancy support
which will
examine key business metrics, potential for growth and using a Franchising
Suitability Matrix explore the potential for growth through franchising.
The
second stage will be attendance at a one day seminar, led by an expert
in the fast food franchise sector providing participants with the
opportunity to extend their
knowledge of the food sector. On completion we will select businesses
which
demonstrate the greatest potential for growth through franchising
to benefit from
further consultancy support.
This
is a limited offer and these stages must be completed by March 2007.
