How to make a bad Curry
Bad meaning bad in this
case. Not bad as in great - the street jargon.
Hotels, restaurants and canteens all over the
country will attempt to serve some dishes of West Indian origin
occasionally, even if that means sticking raisins in a curry
dish, and calling it Caribbean. I have never met a
Caribbean who puts raisins in a savoury dish. This
was my memory of curry for school dinners.
Many of these places get it completely wrong. I
tasted the worst curry in my life last week. I
wouldn't even tell you where. Somewhere in North
London. Needless to say the cook was neither
Caribbean, or Indian, and obviously had followed no
particular recipe. Any cook of any nationality can cook
with a decent recipe, assuming they can read, and have some
common sense. In this case it seemed
that the chef had prepared this curry without a
care, since he was not the one who was going to be eating
it. Anyone who inflicts such misery on others,
should be made to sit down, and not get up until they've eaten a
large plate of that curry, on its own.
It is not hard to murder a
curry. I'm sure you could think of ways to
make a bad curry. No!
Okay, let me give you some
ideas.
