The Caribbean Food and Drink Awards objectives:
§         To  encourage, support and promote  businesses involved in the preparation and sale of Caribbean Food.
§         To  raise the profile of Caribbean food and drink businesses
§         To celebrate the diversity of Caribbean food and drink available in the UK
§         To encourage excellence in this growing industry
§         To reward the years of quality and commitment served by many in the trade
Nominations were launched  6 months ago.   Delegates to the Caribbean Cuisine Seminar, held at the Savoy Hotel on the 1st June 2003,  were invited to nominate the Caribbean businesses that they felt deserved an award for consistently good products and service.   The event also saw the launch of the Industry Association Caribbean Cuisine Consortium (CCC).   CCC is an amalgam of Caribbean Restaurateurs, Caribbean Take Away Proprietors,  Caribbean Food and Drink Suppliers, Caribbean Food Industry Professionals: Food Educators, Caterers,  Nutritionists, Chefs, Rum Professionals and dedicated Caribbean Food and Drink enthusiasts. 
 
Nominations and votes were received by form, email or telephone, from those in the industry, and the general public.
 
The Awards Ceremony took place at the Caribbean Food and Drink Conference 2003 held at the Kensington-Forum Holiday Inn Hotel, London on Sunday 23rd November, 2003.        The Awards were sponsored by Grace Kennedy (UK), and Wray and Nephew.   The Conference was sponsored by Business Link for London.
